Moss and underlying soil bacterial community structures are linked to moss functional traits

چکیده
Mosses are among the first colonizing organisms after glacier retreat and can develop into thick moss mats during later successional stages. They key players in N2 fixation through their microbiome, which is an important process for nutrient buildup primary succession. How these moss–microbe interactions succession not well studied relevant light of climate change increased retreat. We examined how bacterial communities associated with two species genus Racomitrium underlying soil, as traits nitrogen fixation, along a gradient forefield Fláajökull southeast Iceland. In addition, we tested whether functional traits, such total carbon (TC) (TN) contents, moisture content, shoot length drivers soil communities. Although time since deglaciation did affect TN TC deglaciation. Moss were distinct. While community structure was driven by C/N ratios, linked to deglaciation, ratio, content. Overall, our results suggest that there little lateral transfer between structure. Domain-Specific hypothesis, they seem at least as problematic for this theory as do many of the facts raised by Caramazza and Mahon for alternative accounts. However, the model is so underspecified that it is possible to develop explanations for most patterns of data. This flexibility significantly undermines the explanatory power of the account and essentially renders it unfalsifiable. The cha...
متن کاملPhysical soil architectural traits are functionally linked to carbon decomposition and bacterial diversity
Aggregates play a key role in protecting soil organic carbon (SOC) from microbial decomposition. The objectives of this study were to investigate the influence of pore geometry on the organic carbon decomposition rate and bacterial diversity in both macro- (250-2000 μm) and micro-aggregates (53-250 μm) using field samples. Four sites of contrasting land use on Alfisols (i.e. native pasture, cro...
متن کاملRole of bacterial lipopolysaccharide in attachment of agrobacterium to moss.
Gametophore induction in moss by Agrobacterium tumefaciens was inhibited by addition of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) from A. tumefaciens. The LPS did not affect bacterial viability or appear to bind to bacterial cells. LPS from nonbinding Agrobacterium radiobacter was not effective in reducing gametophore formation. A. tumefaciens LPS, if added 24 hours after addition of viable bacterial cells, had...

Agriculture disrupts all freshwater systems hugely from their pristine states. The former reductionist concept of pollution was of examining individual effects of particular substances on individual taxa or sub-communities in freshwater systems, an essentially ecotoxicological concept. It is now less useful than a more holistic approach that treats the impacts on the system as a whole and inclu...
متن کاملPediatrics Functional Constipation and school-Whether are linked?
Background: Functional Constipation (FC) is one of the important digestive disorders in pediatrics. Its prevalence varies in different communities. The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of FC in our area between the school children and the impact of school on it. Methods: This study was done on 4 to 12 years old children of nine schools and kindergartens...
